Back to York for the final day of racing for the 2010 Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival highlighted by the Coolemore 5 furlong group 1 stake.
York’s Ebor Festival (Wednesday)
Photos from Wednesday’s flat racing action during York’s Ebor Racing Festival. Jamie Spencer, Frankie Dettori and Richard Hughes were all in action during a gorgeous day of summer racing in Yorkshire.
Something a Little Different
Cross country photos from the Richmond Equestrian Centre outside of Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Wellies and Horse Racing
Shot some horse racing scenes from flat racing at Catterick race course in Catterick, North Yorkshire. Rain, cold and horses made for a very British afternoon in Yorkshire.
Autosport From Across the Pond
Found a race track 5 miles down the road from where I’m staying in Scorton, North Yorkshire. And what else would I have to do on a sunday afternoon?
Caution: Race Horses.
I started riding out for George Moore, a jump trainer based in Middleham North Yorkshire England last week. My first day on the job, I knew IMMEDIATELY that I needed to bring my camera one morning.
Market Rasen Races
4 hurdle races, 2 steeplechases and a bumper race were on the card at Market Rasen’s races in the UK.
A Week with Rich Clarkson
I spent a fantastic week at Rich Clarkson’s sports photography workshop in Colorado Springs. The people who put on this workshop are truly exceptional in every way. I wont name drop, but if you’ve ever seen a sports photo, you would know the instructor’s names. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the shooters [...]
Sport of Kings in the Queen City
The Queens Cup Steeplechase celebrated it’s 15th anniversary this year. The non-profit event sends all race proceeds to the Make a Wish Foundation, who help supply us with volunteers and in return, we usually have several kids come out and spend a wonderful day at the races in rural North Carolina.
Loud Noises! Part 2
I love motor racing. I dont know why. I just do. I think it’s the color, the noises that make my hair stand on end. It definitely challenges me as a photographer. The combination of passion, sport, people and emotions just draw me into every aspect of racing. If you know me, you know it [...]
Hey Batter Batter!
The Centre College softball team took on Rhodes College on a beautiful saturday afternoon on April 10. On the request of a friend on the team, I came out to snap some shots.I’m very glad I did.
A Spring Tradition
Colorful sundresses, bow ties, alcohol, professional steeplechase horse racing, and sunshine are what come to mind when I think Carolina Cup.
Aiken Spring Steeplechase
The 2010 steeplechasing season got under way in Aiken South Carolina on March 20. I shot four of the six races. I missed the first race (a flat race) and the last hurdle race…because I was riding in it. Personal prints may be purchased from my photoshelter archive. Lots more to come this spring from the steeplechasing circuit.
Centre vs. Campbellsville
The weather has been very nice this week and after a full day of shooting the Kentucky School for the Deaf’s tearing down of an academic building, I opted for some time on the courts shooting tennis. Some of these I had the 1.4TC on the 70-200, some I did not. Most of them were shot on the D300s DX (crop) body at shutter speeds above 1/4000 to stop the racquet and ball in their tracks.
Spring Tennis Season
Finally the weather broke in Kentucky. Just in time for the first tennis match of the season. I borrowed Clay Jackson’s 1.4 teleconverter and threw it on my 70-200 lens giving it a really nice reach on the D300s DX body and just a little bit better reach for the D700 FX body. There is lots more tennis to come this spring.
The Outside of a Horse
The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man. At least that’s what they say (I’m definitely a believer though). The American steeplechasing season is two weeks away from it’s first official race in Aiken South Carolina and horses up and down the east coast are prepping for their spring campaigns. I will be there to cover the Aiken, Carolina Cup and Queens Cup steeplechase races.
Quiet Celebration
n sorting through the photos I took this past fall to be uploaded on Photoshelter, I came across this one and I forgot how much I liked it. Senior Alex Wegener quietly pumps his fist after scoring a goal against Austin College at one of the later home games in the fall. Sometimes it’s not about the big emotional celebration or the high fives and chest bumps from teammates, but just a satisfied feeling knowing you got it right. Time to get on with the game.
