Formula E. Is it the future? Many would argue yes. A battery powered open wheel race car? Until recently, the technology wasn’t available to even consider such a racing series as a possibility. But now, in it’s first year as a series, Formula E is well and truly off the ground. Still with plenty of growing pains in both the cars, circuit and management side, it hasn’t been a total failure, but not a total success either.
Success or failure, I’m glad I had the opportunity to experience the future for myself. My opinions don’t matter as to what I thought of it as a series and as a spectator event. Motorsport fans, like I’ve said before, should go and see for themselves before making an opinion. Regardless, I thought the cars look cool, and the weather was nice, and the drivers are more than capable of putting on a show for the fans that did show up.
